Vietnam is a country in Asia.The Vietnamese people call their New Year holiday Tet.

Tet comes in January or February.The date changes every year.Tet is supposed to last for three days, but some people make it last for a week.

Before Tet people paint and clean their homes.They put branches with pretty flowers on their houses, too.If the flowers open on the first day of Tet, it means good luck for the family.So families pick their branches carefully!

Some families put strips of red paper on trees for good luck.Then they hang cards from their friends on the trees.

There are always many cakes and candies to eat at Tet.Every family buys a tray of mut.Mut is made by covering fruits or vegetables with sugar.

There is also special cake for Tet, but it is not sweet.It has meat and beans on the inside and rice on the outside.It is rolled in banana leaves and cooked.
