Anansi's Feast
Anansi the Spider was very busy.He was cooking a feast.
"Oh, look at all this food. What a great cook I am!"Anansi thought.
Outside, Turtle walked by.Turtle was hungry. He smelled something good coming from Anansi's cozy home.
"Food!" Turtle thought."My dear friend Anansi will feed me."
Anansi opened the door.Turtle saw bowls of yams, rice, and beans on the table.
"It smells good! May I share your lunch?" Turtle asked.
Anansi didn't want to share his lunch.Yet Turtle was his friend. So Anansi said, "You may eat at my table. But first you must go back outside. You must wash your hands."
Turtle's Dusty Hands
Turtle walked and walked. Finally, a small puddle caught his eye.He washed his hands.
"Now my hands are clean," Turtle thought. And back he walked, up the dusty road.
Turtle arrived at Anansi's house. He noticed that half the food was gone."I washed my hands, Anansi.May I eat now?" Turtle asked.
Anansi said, "Wait.Your hands are still dusty. You must wash them again."
