It came to pass that the Prince gave a ball for his birthday.The stepmother and stepsisters were excited.
"May I go?" asked Cinderella.
"No, you may not," said her stepmother. "You must stay home and cook."
On the night of the ball, Cinderella had double the amount of work to do.
"Sew our gowns! Bring my jewels! Help us dress!" said the stepmother to Cinderella.
Finally off they went to the ball.Cinderella was left all alone.
Cinderella was sad. She began to weep.Suddenly, she heard a voice say, "Don't cry."
Cinderella saw a woman with silver hair.The woman wore a beautiful dress."Who are you?" Cinderella asked.
"I am your Fairy Godmother," said the woman.
"You are so good and kind," said the Fairy Godmother."As a reward, you will go to the ball.You must be a clever collector!Bring me two mice and your cat.Then bring the pumpkin stored in the shed!"
Cinderella did just as her Fairy Godmother asked.
