The next morning, Graham oiled and polished the bridles, saddles, and boots.Then he collected the brushes and buckets to groom the horses.Soon he'd be able to snatch some tail hairs from the King's stallion!

But when Graham went to brush and braid the stallion's mane and tail, the Prince had already started the task.Graham had no choice but to relate the Princess's story to the Prince.

The Prince listened quietly to the strange story.He did like Graham, so he let him comb some hair from the great stallion's tail ... on one condition.

The Prince wanted to wed this Swan Princess.She had to accompany Graham back to the castle.Graham's heart sank, but he consented.

A few hours later, Graham stood beside the pond.His scarf held several strands of hair from the stallion's tail.The swan quickly glided to the edge of the pond.She motioned with her beak toward the woods.

Graham understood that he should seek out the old woman's house in the woods.In order for the spell to be broken, he must get the old woman to accept the hair from him.Graham entered the dark forest. After some time, he arrived at the strangest house he had ever seen.

Mushrooms covered the squat little house.Lizards crawled and snakes slithered in and out of the windows.As Graham neared the house, the old woman popped through the door.

Graham said that he had a gift for her. The old woman, being such an evil creature, was suspicious.She tried to dismiss Graham with a wave of her hand, but he refused to leave.It wasn't often that a young man as handsome as Graham wanted to give her a gift.She knew he was up to something.
