Time was passing, and the days of the great sailing ships were numbered.
One day Stormalong saw a ship that had smoke pouring out of it.
He thought the ship was on fire, so he doused it with water.
Then the ship's captain yelled and told him it was a steamship.
He said that steamships would replace sailing ships.
Well, Stormy was a sailing man, so he didn't believe him.
He challenged that steamship to a race.
