CHAPTER 1 He's Pure Evil
Lieutenant R Maynard RN, You are here by ordered to pursue and take prisoner,or if he be not compliant, to kill, the pirate known as Blackbeard.
Blackbeard - the name made my blood run cold.I read the letter for the third time, hoping there was some mistake. But there was no mistake. It was addressed to me - Lieutenant Robert Maynard - and my orders were clear.I was to hunt down the pirate Blackbeard and bring him back, dead or alive.
Don't think I'm a coward. I'd spent half my life in the Royal Navy. And I'd fought in more battles than I can remember.Pirates don't scare me. But I'd never faced anyone like Blackbeard. He wasn't just another pirate. He was a monster, a fire-breathing madman.
Blackbeard's name was known far and wide in America. Some people said he was the devil himself. And no wonder they were scared. No one was safe from Blackbeard. He sailed off the coast of Carolina, robbing every ship he set eyes on.
Blackbeard, around 1715. Note, the flaming brands in his air.
