Roberto coiled the rope of hair and slung it over one shoulder.The mice walked into his jacket pocket and he put the jacket on.Then he climbed up onto the bed. From there he climbed up the dresser.When he reached the top, he was only a few feet from the cage. The dog whimpered.
"Shh," said the mice. "The Big Ones will hear you." The Sad One was quiet.
Roberto looked at the cage, then down at the floor. It was a long way down.Then he looked at the dog's hopeful eyes. He took a deep breath and jumped.His hands grasped the bars of the cage. He made it!
Holding onto the bars, Roberto inched his way around the cage.When he reached the door, he opened it and stepped inside.Quickly, he tied the rope to one bar of the cage.Then he picked up the dog with one arm and slid down the rope, holding on with his legs and the other arm.
