Col watched his master closely. The man's face was a mask of concentration.
Col handed him his tools as he needed them - trying to anticipate which one he'd want next.
"Gouge," Aldred would mutter, or "claw chisel," or perhaps "heavy lump" when he wanted his hammer.
Even though Col had been Aldred's apprentice for three years,
