The Chinese boy dropped his newspaper and raced into the street to grab the frightened horse's reins.
The boy held the leather tightly until the horse quieted,
and then the man grabbed back the reins and rode off without a single word of thanks.
Connor stood for a moment, impressed with the boy's bravery.
Then he noticed the fallen newspaper, picked it up, and ran after the Chinese boy as he headed for the alley.
