The Mice at Home
Once there was a mama mouse and her three little mice.
The little mice were called Mouse One, Mouse Two, and Mouse Three.
They all lived in a tiny hole in the wall of a big house.
One day, Mama Mouse set out to find scraps of food.
She could make a nice lunch out of scraps.
"Can we go with you?" asked one little mouse.
"No," Mama told him.
"The cat, El Gato, is up and about.
I don't want him to see you."
"But we are not scared of the cat, El Gato," said Mouse Two.
"El Gato has very sharp teeth and claws," said Mama.
"He could grab you and eat you up."
Mama stood up and hissed, just like a cat.
The little mice laughed.
"Please stay here," Mama warned them again.
"We will," said Mouse Three.
Mama stuck her head out of the hole.
The cat was not there.
So she snuck out into the big house.
Danger!
The three little mice played tag while their mama was out.
Even in a tiny hole, they could run and have fun.
But then the mice got bored.
"Do you think El Goto really has sharp teeth and claws?" asked Mouse One.
"There is only one way to find out," said Mouse Two.
"But Mama told us to stay inside," warned Mouse Three.
"Let's just look," said Mouse One.
