Chapter 1 April Fools' Day

Some of Nat's jokes have been a great success.Last year on April Fool's Day, Nat played a practical joke on his sister.He made her bed with the sheets folded halfway down.Nat's sister laughed when she saw what Nat had done.

Some people don't think Nat's practical jokes are funny.Mom didn't think finding a furry toy mouse in her cereal was humorous at all.Mom said, "That's it! No more practical jokes for two weeks."

Nat is the class clown. He is always making jokes in class.Nat likes making the other kids laugh.On April Fools' Day, Nat wants to provide everyone with some good entertainment.

Nat thought for a long time before he came up with his great idea.He has bought two toy frogs. The frogs are made out of green plastic.They look just like real frogs.

Chapter 2 Setting the Scene

Nat arrives at school early. He wants to get into the classroom before anyone else does.Nat's class has a rain forest terrarium. It has plants, insects, and three frogs.Nat is going to pretend that the frogs have escaped.Ms. Lopez, his teacher, isn't afraid of frogs. But some of the kids in his class are.

Nat slinks into the classroom. There's nobody there.Nat puts one of the toy frogs on the floor.He puts the other toy frog on his friend Stacey's desk.

Nat knows that Stacey does not like frogs.Also, Stacey played a great trick on him last April Fools' Day.Stacey put food coloring in Nat's milk at lunch.The milk was green, and Nat thought the milk had mold in it.
