The next morning, the old woman told Blanche to go back home.
"Oh, no! Do I have to go?" Blanche responded.She thought of the cruel family waiting for her at home.
The old woman replied, "I'm sorry, but you have to go.You've been a very good girl, so I will give you some talking eggs." "Talking eggs?" Blanche asked.
"Yes," the old woman said. "Now, listen carefully.Go to the chicken coop, and you'll hear the eggs talking to you.Take only the eggs that say 'Take me.' You must not take the eggs that say 'Don't take me.'On the way home, throw the eggs over your shoulder. You'll get some surprises."
Blanche thanked the old woman and went to the chicken coop.The eggs immediately began talking to her.Some of the eggs were white, but most of the eggs were solid gold and covered with jewels.
Only the white eggs said, "Take me." All of the golden eggs said, "Don't take me."Blanche remembered the old woman's advice, so she took only the white eggs with her.
On the way home, she threw an egg over her shoulder.The egg broke, and Blanche saw something shining among the pieces of broken eggshell.It was a pile of diamonds. Blanche threw the other eggs over her shoulder one by one,and a magnificent gift came out of each broken egg.
Soon Blanche had a huge pile of jewels and many wonderful gifts.An elegant horse and carriage appeared from the last egg.Blanche put her gifts in the carriage and went home.
