I've been wrestling with my conscience. There's a no-exceptions rule that all travelers have to follow: Alter nothing. So when I arrive on a planet that I've never visited, it's vital that I don't cause any significant changes.Otherwise I'll be barred from any further travel and be stuck working behind a desk forever.
My dilemma is that if I don't restart time, I won't be able to leave, but if I don't leave, my continued presence here will affect the planet anyway.I'm much too different from these people to ever blend in. I'm doomed whatever I do!
Ath came by with Tam and Jas earlier.I think she must have insisted that they leave work for a little while - they seemed very uncomfortable about this.I had to stop Jas from organizing my utensils. They looked at my vids again, and I tried to explain the concept of weekends and evenings. As patiently as I could, I told them that during the week,we work eight hours, sleep eight hours, and spend eight hours doing other things.
"What other things?" Tam asked. She'd been flipping through my novels with a very puzzled expression on her face. She'd obviously never encountered stories before.
"Like playing, eating, spending time with friends, and doing nothing.Doing nothing actually refreshes the brain!"
Jas's and Tam's jaws dropped clear to the ground at that one.
