Once, there was a village called Barat. The village was next to a jungle.The people in the village were shy and timid. They did not travel far.They felt awkward talking with people from other places.
There were tall trees with big, orange fruit.The people of Barat didn't like the fruit.The fruit was not sweet. The fruit was sour.The people named it sourfruit.
The villagers liked sapwood trees.They burned the resin from sapwood trees in their lamps.The villagers sat and talked by lamplight at night.Unfortunately, sapwood trees grew on the other side of the jungle.
Chapter 2 Living in Darkness
One night, the people could not light the lamps.They didn't have any more resin.
"What will we do now?" a man asked.
"One person has to go on a journey and find sapwood trees," another man said.
"I'll go," a young villager volunteered.
