Chapter 1 A Visitor
A long time ago, few plants grew on Earth.Hungry animals looked everywhere for food.
One morning a little fox climbed up a mountain.From the top of the mountain, the fox could see everything around him.Earth was very plain and brown. The fox felt sad and lonely.
The fox looked at the blue sky.He liked to gaze at the birds that lived up in the clouds.The fox loved to see them flying and spinning in the air.
"I wish I could fly like that," he thought."Where do those birds get all their energy?There must be a lot of food to eat up there."
The fox searched for food every day.He climbed up the mountain to watch the birds every day, too.
One day the fox was watching the birds as he usually did.Suddenly the fox saw a dark shadow.He thought that it must be rain clouds. But it was a huge bird.The bird's enormous wings seemed to cover the sky.The big bird flew down toward the fox.
