One year, the poor man's crops failed. The poor man had no more food.He knew he had to ask his brother for help.The poor man said, "I have no money left.Brother, will you please give me some food to eat?"
The rich man did not want to share his food. "I have nothing to give you," he said.
The rich man decided to teach his poor brother a lesson.
The rich man wanted to scare his brother.He gave his brother some meat. The rich man said, "Take this meat to Hiysi.Hiysi is the creature that lives in the forest.When you come back, I will give you some food."
The poor man had heard bad stories about Hiysi.He did not want to go into the forest alone.But the poor man set off to find Hiysi.
In the forest, the poor man met a woodsman.The woodsman asked, "Why are you out in the forest alone?"
The poor man said, "I am looking for Hiysi.I have something to give him. Do you know where he lives?"
The woodsman pointed into the forest.Then he said, "Hiysi will offer to give you something in return.Tell him you want his old millstone."
CHAPTER 2 Meeting Hiysi
The poor man walked up to an old hut, and knocked on the door.Hiysi opened it. "What have you brought me?" he asked the poor man.
Hiysi took the bundle from the poor man's hands and gobbled up the tasty meat.Hiysi said, "You brought me a gift. Now, I will give you something.Would you like some gold?" "No, thank you," the poor man answered.
Hiysi asked, "Would you like some jewels?"
