Everyone in the Cruz family enjoyed Sunday dinners together.Tonight Grandpa had made his delicious enchiladas and Grandma had made spicy sauce.When Carlos started talking about his plans for the next day, Omar got very quiet.
“Tomorrow is Take Your Child to Work Day, so Mom is taking me with her when she visits sick people at home.I will be able to see how she takes care of them!” exclaimed Carlos.
“I'm going to the auto shop with Dad to watch him fix cars and trucks!” added Dora.
“And I'm not going anywhere,” sighed Omar quietly.“It's not fair that Take Your Child to Work Day is only for big kids.”
Grandma saw that Omar was upset, but she had an idea.
“Maybe Omar can ride with Grandpa on his truck.”
“Oh, please let me go!” begged Omar, as Carlos and Dora started to giggle.
“I don't mind,” said Grandpa.
“Nothing fun happens on a truck.He'll be so bored that he'll just fall asleep,” Carlos whispered to Dora.Dad told them to stop laughing, and he thanked Grandma for the idea.
The next morning, Omar tried not to listen while Carlos teased him.
“Don't forget your coloring books and crayons, because it's going to be a long day.You should also take a blanket and a pillow so you can take a nap,” said Carlos with a smile.
“That's enough, Carlos,” warned Mom.“He's going to have a great time with Grandpa.”
At the truck garage, Omar couldn't believe what he saw.Grandpa's truck was huge!
“Even Carlos would feel small standing next to your truck!” Omar exclaimed.
“Carlos has never seen my truck, and you are the first grandchild to ride in it,” Grandpa said proudly.
“Let's get started because we have to drop off a big load of peaches today.First we should look at the map.”
